A post on the movie Stand By Me
This movie is a really good adventure movie. It is filled with various problems and moral challenges that have to be faced by a group of four boys of a small town who go out in search of the body of a missing dead teenager who was hit by a train. Gordie, Chris, Teddy and Vern all experience a moral dilemma with exploiting the body of a fallen friend because finding the missing child comes with a reward and fame. I like the story because along the way the characters each find a way to solve their problems. Gordie's parents ignore him after his brother, a big time football star died, because they expect Gordie to follow in his brothers footsteps, but he just wants to be a writer. Chris is able to convince Gordie that he is a really good story teller and helps him psycholgy get over his fear of telling his parents of his future plans. And although the group falls apart as everyone goes off in their own direction and there is a dead body I found the movie to be a sort of feel good movie. As the movie ends with a forty or fifty something year old Gordie writing the story of the time he went on an adventure with his friends.
